Exactly how you enjoy your time in the Hammam is your personal preference, the basic technique includes
- Rinse with clear hot water
- Wait while the heat softens your skin and you sweat.
- Using the rough mitt (Kese)scrub away the dead skin using hard pressure. No soap is required, and do not rinse until
the skin is coming off. If you are not alone, you can ask someone to scrub your back, but do ask them to not
rub too hard (say 'shuya') if you are not used to it.
- Once you have scrubbed, wash with the soap.
- Wash your hair
- Rinse again
- Wrap with Pestemal ( extra AbsorbentTurkish Towel)

How to use the Kese

What make pestemal so special?
The pestemal (pesh-te-mahl) towel is a large thin and highly absorbant towel with fringed ends that is used in Turkish culture
as a drying waistcloth. These hand-woven towels are commonly
used in the hammam (bath house). and are very practical because of their
